Canada Pioneers Advanced Biofuels First
Starting in July, consumers in Ottawa will be able to purchase gasoline blended with 10% cellulosic ethanol. Thanks to Royal Dutch Shell and Canada’s Iogen Corporation, a Shell gas station in Ottawa will have this blend available at one of their pumps; a world’s first! Iogen's cellulose ethanol process uses agricultural residues such as straw to reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions up to 90% compared to gasoline. The complete CRFA release can be read here. For further information, check out the Iogen Corporation website and also the article by Reuters.
